Paradise Hockey Club, Karianwala and Al-Mujahid Hockey Team, Tibbi jointly win the Fifth Annual Fatima-Shah Muhammad Memorial Hockey Tournament after the score remained tied at 1-1 at the close of the final match.  Both teams played very well and the spectators enjoyed display of skills from both teams.  The tournament was organized by PARADISE, PROMARK and Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison at village Chak 73/RB Karianwala, Faisalabad. Theme of the tournament was “Make Pakistan Polio Free / End Polio Now.” Sixteen village teams competed in this regional tournament. The Champions trophy was presented to both team captains.  The prize money of Rs 35,000 was also shared equally between the joint winners. Muhammad Kashif from Paradise Hockey Club was declared Man of the Match while Muhammad Waqas from Al-Mujahid Club was declared Man of the Tournament. Polio Awareness material including t-shirts and caps, and other gifts from sponsors were presented to the participating teams. Mir Arif Ali, incoming District Governor of Rotary International, was the chief guest at the Final match. Lt Gen Ch Sardar Ali, Col Nawab Ali, Dr Fouad Chaudhry, Bilal Chaudhry, Shakeel Ahmed, Naeem Aslam, Abdul Haleem, Waseem Aslam, Iqbal Malik (Bali) and Nauman Siddiqui participated in the event along with a large number of village elders and notables. Patron-in-Chief Paradise Hockey Club & Past District Governor Shehzad Ahmed and Paradise Coordinator Mukhtar Ahmed organized the tournament. A Polio Awareness Walk was held for the children after the prize distribution ceremony. They were informed that all children less than five years of age should be administered polio drops at each National Immunization Day (NID) campaign. Pencils with polio message, polio badges, cups and biscuits were distributed among the children. Promark, Rotary’s National PolioPlus Committee, Interloop, Mobilink, Coca Cola, Cannon Foam and CopperGat Cables supported the five day event.
