Rotary Club celebrates International Literacy Day by distributing notebooks among students.

Farooq Abad: Members of Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison organized a seminar on the International Literacy Day at Aabroo Welfare High School where they distributed notebooks (copies) among the students and presented 7,500 notebooks to the school management.  Past District Governor and Aabroo Board Member Shehzad Ahmed represented both organizations and acted as the Master of Ceremony.  President Nauman Siddiqui welcomed the participants.  Assistant Governor Abdul Haleem informed participants that these 7,500 notebooks were specially printed with polio and peace messages from Rotary District Grant no. 1640953/7 funded by The Rotary Foundation.  District Governor Mir Arif Ali was the chief guest who congratulated Aabroo School management for providing quality education free of cost to the students belonging to underprivileged communities and offered full support in arranging scholarships for the talented students.  Rotarian Iqbal Awan spoke about the importance of literacy in the development and progress of a nation.  Students had prepared thought provoking speeches which were liked by all the participants.  Shakil Qureshi from Aabroo School provided a brief overview of the progress of Aabroo Education Welfare Organization which started with four students and now has more than 3,600 students.  Past President Mian Zahid Jawaid offered vote of thanks to the participants.  Assistant Governor Dr Sakhiyya Sakhaullah, Past President Rtn Mubarik Ali Shahid, Rizwan Shamsi, M Usman Khurshid, Ch Siddique, Sana Azhar Khan, and Tabasum Waheed from Rotary Clubs, Syed Jarrar Kazmi from Pak PolyTechnic Institute and representatives from other civil society organizations also attended the ceremony.
